Conceptually, Best Way Freighting is very similar to the Routing Guide in that a set of business rules that are applied dependent on a specific Quick Ship/E10 Ship Code to determine the 'real' ship code that will be used to process the shipment.
These business rules will use the standard Rate Shopping logic to determine the most economical carrier/service to employ based on the E10 Shipments Weight and the maximum number of days in which to complete the delivery.
The assumption is that the shipper will establish a shipcode(s) in E10 matching the Quick Ship Ship Code where they begin with 'BW'. The shipcode(s) will not be linked to any Carrier or CarrierService in the Quick Ship Ship Code Setup.
When a shipment is freighted in E10, and the E10 Ship Code begins with 'BW', this will trigger the Rate Shopping call that will validate the following to determine the 'real' Ship Code.
Best Way logic will only be applied to those ship codes where the E10 Weight is within the Quick Ship ShipCode Rate Shopping MinimumWeight and MaximumWeight range.
Rate Shopping may only apply to ship codes that have a specific Quick Ship ShipCode Days to Deliver Value.
If the Quick Ship/E10 Ship Code= 'BW' then all Quick Ship Ship Codes where 'Include In Rate Shopping' is checked will be eligible to determine the 'real' ship code.
If the Quick Ship/E10 Ship Code = 'BW1' then only Quick Ship Ship Codes where 'Include in Rate Shopping' is checked AND Quick Ship Ship Codes Days to Deliver = '1' will be eligible to determine the 'real' ship code.
If the Quick Ship/E10 Ship Code = 'BW2' then only Quick Ship Ship Codes where 'Include In Rate Shopping' is checked AND Quick Ship Ship Codes Days to Deliver = '2' will be eligible to determine the 'real' ship code.
If the Quick Ship/E10 Ship Code = 'BW3' then only Quick Ship Ship Codes where 'Include In Rate Shopping' is checked AND Quick Ship Ship Codes Days to Deliver = '3' will be eligible to determine the 'real' ship code.
If the Quick Ship/E10 Ship Code = 'BWG' then only Quick Ship Ship Codes where 'Include In Rate Shopping' is checked AND Quick Ship Ship Codes Days To Deliver > '3' will be eligible to determine the 'real' ship code.
Once the Rate Shopping has been completed using the business logic described, the Quick Ship/E10 Actual Ship Code will be automatically updated using the Ship Code that returns the least expensive freight cost from the rate shopping results.
